I just kept looking and found the poem on Stray Cat. We recently had a stray come to us, and it has been about 2 yrs since my beloved Lucky had to be put to sleep because of Leukemia. That just broke my heart, and I have never stopped missing him. The new cat is a lot like him in temperment, and I don't think it was an accident that he showed up here. I own both. So when I found this site with the postcards, I fell in love with the pictures and had to send three postcards to various people. My Sheltie's name is Kramer and my Tabby cat is named Tabitha, but we call her Tabby all the time. I found it through the Earhlinks webcam index, boy am I glad I did! I love everything about your page, I have it bookmarked and I come here often. I always had dogs when I was a kid because my Mom didn't like cats-too mean and sneaky-her words not mine. After I moved out and got married we took in a cat because a neighbor was moving and she couldn't take him with her. So that's how we got Bagheera, he's about 3 years old and solid black except for 1 white whisker. Then later we thought he needed a friend, so we got Frisky from the pound. She's a 2 year old tortie. Anyway---I love cats and I'm glad that you've taken the time to do such a wonderful page! P.S The first time Bagheera met my Mom he hissed at her, he'd NEVER done this before...I guess he knew!!! LOL |

We adopted him and then had him neutred. He is a strictly indoor cat and is now two years old. He recently suffered from what the vet tells me is Feline Urological Syndrome. He had to be hospitalized and catheterized to be unblocked. He did fine and then came home. Two weeks later we were back at the vets for the same procedure despite the fact that we put him on a special prescription diet and antibiotics. he is currently in the hopital having a surgical intervention to prevent this from happening again. People often told me he was more like a cat than a dog. But he only had 4 lives. I'm so glad his last one, the longest, being 5.5 years, was spent with me. His kidneys failed due to an undiagnosed disease, and he lost so much weight and strength that his legs could no longer hold him up. He was in constant pain and I had to have him euthanized. I look forward to that day when I cross over the rainbow bridge with him into heaven. |

I have just posted Willie's birthday on the calendar for April 27. He is a shaded silver persian that I got from a cattery when he was about 6 months. I believe he had been chosen and returned more than once because he was so very scared. I soon discovered he had a spinal deformity. It hasn't affected him very much through his life though and he will be 14 soon. I have other cats, but since this is your site and not mine, I will stop talking now. |

We also have many, numbering 15, plus 9 foster kitties looking for a new/good home. I have been doing cat rescue for nine years which is why our numbers have grown. They have come to me from various sources including garbage dumpsters and quite often our animal control shelter (the pound). We usually take care of (FeLV test, shots, spay or neuter) before they go to their new permanent home. The average per year has been close to 250, all ages. Someone's got to help these poor kitties, they have no "say so" in their future. It's very rewarding to me and a few others who are helping me. Spook is grey and cream and from the lost dogs home and Squish is black and is Spooks daughter. When I read the page on desexing I cried, mind you I tried hard not to as I am in the universities computer room and there are people all around! I just don't understand how people can have no respect for a life because a life be it a moth or a person is still a life! The abuse of an animal or the lack of respect for its life is the same as the abuse of a child or the lack of care of a child. They are in your hands and you have taken on the role of carer and lover so that is what you should do. I know that it is hard sometimes. Spook shits in the bath tub and I have to get up in the middle of the night to clean it up. She does her wees in the litter but will not do her poos in there. Go figure. Name: petrina Website: Referred by: word of mouth From: st.louis Time: 1998-01-03 09:42:42 Comments: i just wanted to say how much i appreciated the coverage you have on the noah's ark shelter. i signed the petition a long time ago and just recently saw those horrible kids on a news show a few weeks ago. the lack of remorse was so disgusting and unbeleivable, i hope you saw it. actually my point is i did not see any coverage on the link to abusing animals and then moving on to people. i am in grad school studying therapy and was a psych undergrad and in many anti-social personalities killing and torturing animals while a young person was a "prerecquisite" for hurting people later. Even in the the media high profile murders such as Jeffer Dahmer and others admit to torturing animals as a child. i would hope that people take this into account when looking at these kids and saying it was just a "silly prank" as i think their lawyer described it.anyway sorry for the long messege i have been invovled in animal rights in st. louis for a long time and have three beutiful rescue cats and that story just made me so upset and then seeing the news show (it might have been dateline?) where people just thought is was a prank just made me sooooo mad and had to vent!!! thank you for a wonderful site and good luck to all your kitties.petrina |

I haven't the faintest idea of how to set up a home page, and probably never will, but if I did I hope to do one quarter as well as you have. I have three cats, one who lives outside and wants to come in and two who live inside and want to go out. I will be fostering a litter of 4 kittens - apx 4-5 weeks old - dumped out on a service road - no mommy no food. Our League Shelter is too full to take any more babies. These four kittens plus 6 others were found in various spots around Roanoke over the weekend, none of them are more than 8 weeks old. Some people are really disgusting, aren't they? Wish us luck in placing the baby cats. Congrats on a great page. |

He, too, was rescued from the street, little white and orange tabby. I took his mother to a no-kill shelter, along with his one remaining sister. Digby was hot kitty stuff for 15 years. He died from cancer in 1992. I'm finally able to deal with looking at pictures of other kitties. It was just too difficult, especially they were tabbies.. This year is the anniversary year of the loss of my three kitties, Julie, BooBooKitty and Baby. I have dealt with it. I miss them every day still and I know that will never stop, for I miss all the kitties that I have had over the years and my best friend German Shepherd Odette, who loved my kitties as much as I did and sometimes went through an identity crisis. My life is now shared with Kittenly, age 12, and Samantha, age 1. Kittenly has forgiven me for bringing Sam into the house. I think that it comes from having a cat that was mean when I was growing up. I am now 19 and I want you to know that your site has changed my views like nothing else ever has. I regret not liking cats and considering myself more of a "dog person". Don't get my wrong my best friend is my dog Max, but I want you to know that I love cats now and it is due to your love of cats. I think that they are darling. I think that the Dorthy sound of your kitten talking is creative and darling. I love your site and cats especially. I would just like to tell you why I didn't use to like cats. Well I had a cat named Patches who was a Calico. I'm not sure what the spelling is on that, but I had her as a pet from I can't remember until I was about 12. Well she was always a really grouchy cat, but she became even more grouchy the older she got. She had two sets of kittens and I just want you to know that one of my saddest days was when I was little, one day when my mom, who loves animals, accidently backed out of our driveway and right over a two week old kitten. It happened with Patches watching and I don't think that she ever forgave us. I was so young that I don't remember it all that well but I remember how cute the kitten was. It was the kind with no tail. It was born that way. Well Patches was mean the rest of her life. I have heard that cats like to leave familiar surroundings when they feel like they are dying. Well one day she just never came back and we haven't seen her since. I believe that she went up into the mountains above me and just died. We never found her body and she was really old. I miss her a lot. I don't know why I hated cats after her but I just did. I think that it might be because I wanted more of a cuddely animal like a dog. I am not putting cats down but I just feel that dogs can have more of a personality. I want you to know that we buried that kitten and it is still under our tree. Along with a puppy that was a still born. I just wanted you to know that you changed my views on cats. They are strong animals that have personalities of their own just like other animals and humans. I am furious with that story in Iowa. I didn't even know about it until today. That is the saddest story that I have ever heard. I just want you to know that because of your site I have once again learned to love cats. Hey maybe I will go and pick one up from the pound. Thank you for changing my stubborn views. You are the best kind of people for standing up for the pain that those cats went through, to speak out about it seems hard to me, and I just look up to you for not just standing by and letting things like that happen. One time I rescued a little baby Maine Coon, who lived with me for three years - and I was hooked! They are the biggest silliest clowns in the world! I actually went out and BOUGHT a pair from a breeder, and I have loved these little monsters all their lives; but all the rest of our many, many cats have been rescues. I have never declawed a cat, and never will; If you don't want them to claw something, you just explain it to them, and provide an alternative such as a scratching post. I have NEVER had any trouble with this, even with adopted adults with who-knows-what kind of prior habits. Same goes for any other type of discipline. I just love them and guide them. My last Maine Coon, Missy, is a diabetic who receives an injection of insulin every day.Thanks for the neat stories! I live in an apartment and they have changed the rules to start eliminating cats. But I'll probably move from here before I need to worry about that. Claw's is the cat that I have now. Or should I say that owns me now? He is a black and white shorthair and has a loving personality. He had urinary problems and the vet said they all loved him during his "stay", even though he pulled out the catheter constantly. I don't blame him. I didn't like them either. Also, I have seen the play "CATS" in Boston 3 times and have the soundtrack from Broadway. I love it. I bought TS Eliots book, "Old Possums's Book of Practical Cats" that Andrew Lloyd Webber used when he was writing CATS. |

We he have 10 cats: Annabel, Jonathan, Rosie, Abigail, Beauty and Jake; Savanna, Hannes & Hilary (two ferals 9 mos) and our latest rescue: Theodore Bear "Teddy", the Himalayan, age 8+. Unfortunatley this is when I used to live with my parents and had outdoor kitties who, no matter how hard I tried to teach them, never learned to stay away from the road we lived on. I have two of my "own" cats now, Gabbey and Haley, who are indoor cats, but who love going outside on their leashes on nice days. I hate doing that to them, as they are such free, independent creatures and it makes me feel sad to have to put them on the end of a leash, but ultimately I know it is for their own good. Like, you, I share the dream of winning that lottery so I can rescue all of the cats who need help and who are homeless or suffering. My friends and family all tell me I will grow old and live in some huge house with only a cats to keep me company, and that's fine with me!! |

It gives me an uplifting mood in my time of grieving. About a week ago, I lost my beautiful, medium haired tabby, Roscoe P. Coltrane (we called him Roscoe for short). He was run down by a car. I'll never forget that big fur. We think he was part main coon, cause he was a big kitty (15lbs!). They way he purred, they way he sat on my lap, the way he demanded food, and most of all, the way he loved. He was a very loving, if demanding (help you if that food bowl was empty!) kitty. He was only a year and a half old. Now, I have saved two other kitties lives, two siblings, both short-hair tabbies, Gypsy and Ziggy (sister and brother). They are about 8 weeks old, and are they dolls! They will never replace Roscoe, but they have showed me I can love again... |

She was just the greatest baby I ever had and I miss her loveing and purring. Her name was Annie "Little Orphan Annie" because I found her at aprox. 6 wks. 20 feet from a highway. Love all the your cats although haven't had time to look at them all. I am now looking for a Tortoiseshell. I think they are so cute and my second cat is so lonely that she screams at me from the minute I get home from work until bed time. Poor Baby, I know just the loss she feels. This is my first time on net but I sure wish I could do a page like this with Annie on it in rememberance. I have written a story about her life with pictures but too long. Thanks for loveing cats. |
