I just kept looking and found the poem on Stray Cat. We recently had a stray come to us, and it has been about 2 yrs since my beloved Lucky had to be put to sleep because of Leukemia. That just broke my heart, and I have never stopped missing him. The new cat is a lot like him in temperment, and I don't think it was an accident that he showed up here. I own both. So when I found this site with the postcards, I fell in love with the pictures and had to send three postcards to various people. My Sheltie's name is Kramer and my Tabby cat is named Tabitha, but we call her Tabby all the time. I found it through the Earhlinks webcam index, boy am I glad I did! I love everything about your page, I have it bookmarked and I come here often. I always had dogs when I was a kid because my Mom didn't like cats-too mean and sneaky-her words not mine. After I moved out and got married we took in a cat because a neighbor was moving and she couldn't take him with her. So that's how we got Bagheera, he's about 3 years old and solid black except for 1 white whisker. Then later we thought he needed a friend, so we got Frisky from the pound. She's a 2 year old tortie. Anyway---I love cats and I'm glad that you've taken the time to do such a wonderful page! P.S The first time Bagheera met my Mom he hissed at her, he'd NEVER done this before...I guess he knew!!! LOL |

We adopted him and then had him neutred. He is a strictly indoor cat and is now two years old. He recently suffered from what the vet tells me is Feline Urological Syndrome. He had to be hospitalized and catheterized to be unblocked. He did fine and then came home. Two weeks later we were back at the vets for the same procedure despite the fact that we put him on a special prescription diet and antibiotics. he is currently in the hopital having a surgical intervention to prevent this from happening again. People often told me he was more like a cat than a dog. But he only had 4 lives. I'm so glad his last one, the longest, being 5.5 years, was spent with me. His kidneys failed due to an undiagnosed disease, and he lost so much weight and strength that his legs could no longer hold him up. He was in constant pain and I had to have him euthanized. I look forward to that day when I cross over the rainbow bridge with him into heaven. |

I have just posted Willie's birthday on the calendar for April 27. He is a shaded silver persian that I got from a cattery when he was about 6 months. I believe he had been chosen and returned more than once because he was so very scared. I soon discovered he had a spinal deformity. It hasn't affected him very much through his life though and he will be 14 soon. I have other cats, but since this is your site and not mine, I will stop talking now. |

We also have many, numbering 15, plus 9 foster kitties looking for a new/good home. I have been doing cat rescue for nine years which is why our numbers have grown. They have come to me from various sources including garbage dumpsters and quite often our animal control shelter (the pound). We usually take care of (FeLV test, shots, spay or neuter) before they go to their new permanent home. The average per year has been close to 250, all ages. Someone's got to help these poor kitties, they have no "say so" in their future. It's very rewarding to me and a few others who are helping me. Spook is grey and cream and from the lost dogs home and Squish is black and is Spooks daughter. When I read the page on desexing I cried, mind you I tried hard not to as I am in the universities computer room and there are people all around! I just don't understand how people can have no respect for a life because a life be it a moth or a person is still a life! The abuse of an animal or the lack of respect for its life is the same as the abuse of a child or the lack of care of a child. They are in your hands and you have taken on the role of carer and lover so that is what you should do. I know that it is hard sometimes. Spook shits in the bath tub and I have to get up in the middle of the night to clean it up. She does her wees in the litter but will not do her poos in there. Go figure. Name: petrina Website: Referred by: word of mouth From: st.louis Time: 1998-01-03 09:42:42 Comments: i just wanted to say how much i appreciated the coverage you have on the noah's ark shelter. i signed the petition a long time ago and just recently saw those horrible kids on a news show a few weeks ago. the lack of remorse was so disgusting and unbeleivable, i hope you saw it. actually my point is i did not see any coverage on the link to abusing animals and then moving on to people. i am in grad school studying therapy and was a psych undergrad and in many anti-social personalities killing and torturing animals while a young person was a "prerecquisite" for hurting people later. Even in the the media high profile murders such as Jeffer Dahmer and others admit to torturing animals as a child. i would hope that people take this into account when looking at these kids and saying it was just a "silly prank" as i think their lawyer described it.anyway sorry for the long messege i have been invovled in animal rights in st. louis for a long time and have three beutiful rescue cats and that story just made me so upset and then seeing the news show (it might have been dateline?) where people just thought is was a prank just made me sooooo mad and had to vent!!! thank you for a wonderful site and good luck to all your kitties.petrina |

I am very sorry to hear about the tragedy, it truly broke my heart. I have five cats that I love very much, two of which were abandoned and injured, and couldn't be happier to be given a second chance and be loved. If half of people in that city feel that this was a childish prankand boys will be boys, what will they say when these same boys do something similiar to humans. I haven't the faintest idea of how to set up a home page, and probably never will, but if I did I hope to do one quarter as well as you have. I have three cats, one who lives outside and wants to come in and two who live inside and want to go out. I will be fostering a litter of 4 kittens - apx 4-5 weeks old - dumped out on a service road - no mommy no food. Our League Shelter is too full to take any more babies. These four kittens plus 6 others were found in various spots around Roanoke over the weekend, none of them are more than 8 weeks old. Some people are really disgusting, aren't they? Wish us luck in placing the baby cats. Congrats on a great page. |
